Seeking the Dia, a multiple group stakes winner in Japan who earned over $5 million in his career, will relocate to the Appleton family’s Bridlewood Farm in Ocala, Fla., for 2013. His fee is $3,500 when the foal stands and nurses.
The 11-year-old Storm Cat horse stood at Haras Mantacilla in Chile for a private fee in 2012. He previously stood at Hill 'n' Dale in Lexington, Ky. in 2009 and 2010 before moving to Chile in 2011.
Seeking the Dia won seven of 30 starts and earned $5,044,815 in five seasons of racing, including the Group 2 New Zealand Trophy and TV Nippon Hai. He also finished second in consecutive editions of the Group 1 Japan Cup Dirt, losing the 2005 renewal by a nose to Kane Hekili.
Seeking the Dia, bred in Kentucky by Jayeff “B” Stables, is out of the Seeking the Gold mare Seeking the Pearl, a Group 1 winner in France and Japan who earned over $4 million. It is the family of leading U.S. and French sire Lyphard as well as several other Grade or Group 1 winners.
