See How She Runs best in Selene

ETOBICOKE, Ontario - Texas invader See How She Runs remained unbeaten in five starts with an authoritative 5 1/2-length victory in the Grade 1, $280,250 at Woodbine Monday.

See How She Runs stalked a three-way pace battle in the 1 1/16-mile event for 3-year-old fillies. Ginger Gold, Mulrainy and Whiletheiron'shot hooked up through splits of :23.08 and :46.89, with the former emerging with the lead after three-quarters in 1:12.22.

See How She Runs awaited room on the far turn, and was given her head by jockey Don Pettinger when she got clear at the top of the stretch. She mowed down Ginger Gold at the eighth pole, and then drew off to stop the timer in 1:45.49.

Trainer Donnie Von Hemel said he wanted See How She Runs to rate just off the pace, in contrast to her front-running score April 12 in the Grade 2 Fantasy Stakes at Oaklawn.

"Donnie suggested that I try to teach her to settle," Pettinger said. "She settled nicely, and when I got room, she just took off."

See How She Runs returned $4.40 as the favorite and earned $168,150 for Pin Oak Stable.

Mulrainy finished a length back of Ginger Gold in third. Whiletheiron'shot, Lady Shari, Spanish Decree, First Again and Sweep Princess completed the order of finish.
