Second of June works one mile

Second of June shipped to Gulfstream Park from his base at Calder Race Course on Saturday and worked a mile in 1:39 with jockey Cornelio Velasquez aboard. It was the first time Second of June had been to Gulfstream since his second-place finish in the 2004 Fountain of Youth Stakes.

Second of June came out of the Fountain of Youth with a condylar fracture and did not start again until finishing second under allowance conditions at Calder on Dec. 27. Trained by Bill Cesare for his mother, Barbara Cesare, Second of June will make his next start in the $1 million Sunshine Millions Classic at Gulfstream on Jan. 29.
