Investigators from the Kentucky Horse Racing Authority searched the Keeneland barn of Patrick Biancone on Friday and have opened an investigation into the trainer, the Blood-Horse reported on Tuesday. John Veitch, the Kentucky state steward, declined to comment on the nature of the search or what the it yielded, according to the report, but he confirmed that the authority had opened an investigation. Veitch and other state officials could not be reached late on Tuesday. Biancone maintains a year-round stable at Keeneland, which has an all-weather training surface. A leading trainer in the United States in recent years, Biancone stables approximately 75 horses at the track. According to the report, security personnel at Keeneland accompanied the racing authority investigators during the search. Biancone, reached late on Tuesday, said he would have no comment on the search or the investigation.
