'Seabiscuit' DVD on sale

The movie "Seabiscuit" on DVD was released this week by Universal Studios.

The "Seabiscuit" DVD, which has a list price of $26.98, has plenty of extras. It provides a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the movie and discusses Seabiscuit's rise to celebrity status during the Great Depression.

Director Gary Ross and Oscar-winning filmmaker Steven Soderbergh explain the visual elements that were used to produce the complex racing scenes, which former Hall of Fame jockey Chris McCarron helped to create.

Other segments include Ross detailing how the movie was adapted from Laura Hillenbrand's best-selling book, "Seabiscuit: An American Legend," and Hillenbrand discussing Seabiscuit's racing career.

A two-disc DVD gift set, which has a list price of $39.98, also includes interviews with cast members, including jockey Gary Stevens, who played George Woolf in the movie, and Tobey Maguire, who portrayed Red Pollard, Seabiscuit's regular rider.

The movie, without extras, also is available on VHS.
