Sea Road by a neck in Boynton Beach

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. - Sea Road capped off a big day for trainer Stanley Hough by rallying to a neck victory over pacesetter Worstcasescenario in Saturday's $50,000 Boynton Beach at Gulfstream Park. Hough also won Aqueduct's Grade 2 Distaff Handicap earlier in the afternoon with Tar Heel Mom.

Sea Road has now won three races in a row dating back to her maiden tally at Aqueduct on Nov. 25. Rated in mid-pack under jockey Joe Bravo, Sea Road eased out to launch her rally entering the stretch and wore down Worstcasescenario in the closing strides. Worstcasescenario, making her turf debut and first start since Nov. 7, set a relatively slow pace, remained clear through midstretch, but could not hold off the winner. Dreamed to Dream finished another 1 1/4 lengths further back in third.

Sea Road covered a mile in 1:36.74 over a firm course and paid $9.40

"It's been a good day," said Hough, who trains Sea Road for the partnership of Alex Rankin and Richard and Patricia Lenihan. Sea Road, he said, "runs her race very time, gives it her A effort, and has taken each step up in stride."
