Sea Moon possible for Breeders' Cup Turf

Email

Trainer Michael Stoute, a regular participant in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, might have another horse for the race’s 2011 edition in the 3-year-old Sea Moon. Sea Moon most recently finished third as the favorite in the Sept. 10 St. Leger Stakes over 1 3/4 miles at Doncaster, but in his previous start won the Group 2 Great Voltigeur Stakes over 1 1/2 miles by eight lengths.

Sea Moon is owned by Juddmonte Farms, which sent the Stoute-trained 3-year-old Workforce to Churchill Downs for the 2010 BC Turf, only to scratch the horse the morning of the race due to unhappiness with the condition of the Churchill turf course.

Workforce, meanwhile, had a major workout for his start in the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe on Tuesday morning, going nine furlongs over the Sandown course in the company of two stable partners.
