Scat's Princess tests streak

Scat's Princess will seek to improve on her runner-up finish in last year's edition as she heads a field of 10 Nebraska-bred fillies and mares in the $20,000 Matchmaker Stakes going one mile at Lincoln.

Scat's Princess, part of an uncoupled entry for trainer David Anderson with Real Battleaxe, is riding a three-race win streak and earns a slight nod in a wide-open affair. Her wins this year have all come against $20,000 claiming company, with two at Fonner Park and another in her most recent start here May 17. Her two stakes attempts last year were a second in this race and a third in the Falls Amiss Handicap at Horsemen's Park, which completed her racing year. She has a stalking style that should be well suited in this race.

Real Battleaxe is likely to be part of a strongly contested pace as she stretches out to a mile for this first time this year. She was fourth in the Falls Amiss last summer, and this year comes off a pair of narrow losses to Scat's Princess before breaking through against $20,000 optional-claiming company in her last start June 7.

Plaer's Trump, winless this year in three starts, has shown she can get the one-mile distance with a win against statebred company in the Fantango Lady Stakes at Horsemen's Park last year. She was second this year in both the Orphan Kist Stakes at Fonner Park and the Bluegrass Stakes here May 31, and may be finding her best stride for trainer Herb Riecken.
