Saturday's stakes roundup


John C. Oxley's Snow Dance took charge in the stretch and pulled away to a 1 3/4-length victory over Kiss the Devil in Saturday's Grade 3 $150,000 Pucker Up Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Arlington Park.

The 4-5 favorite in a field of 12, Snow Dance ($3.80) crossed the finish line on 1:47.93 for the 1 1/8 miles on the turf.

Snow Dance was ridden by Craig Perret, who won the Pucker Up in 1969 and 1968.

Twilite Tryst was third.

Castlebrook sets record in Noble Royalty

Castlebrook set a track record for 1 1/16 miles in winning Saturday's $50,000 Noble Royalty Handicap at Calder Race Course by three-quarters of a length over Coolbythepool.

An even-money favorite, Castlebrook ($4.20) raced the 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.55 under Eibar Coa. The previous mark of 1:43.40 was set by King Rex in 1996.

Diana My Love was third.

Owned by Ione and H.J. Elkins and trained by William A. Kaplan, Castlebrook has won four stakes in her last five starts.

Milan romps in St. Leger

Michael Tabor and Mrs. John Magnier's Milan took charge in the stretch to capture Saturday's Group 1 $310,000 Rothmans Royals St. Leger Stakes by five lengths at Doncaster.

Demophilos was second, three lengths ahead of Mr Combustible.
