Saturday stakes roundup (7/27/02)

Other Saturday stakes

* Boldest of All ($7.70) won her maiden in style at Woodbine, leading all the way in the $129,125 Nandi Stakes for Ontario-sired 2-year-old fillies.

* Four-year-old filly Mujado ($16.20) broke an 18-year-old track record while winning the $60,300 Local Thriller Stakes at Delaware Park. Her time of 56.16 seconds for five furlongs on turf shaved four-hundreths of a second off the record of 56.20 set by Jeff on Sept. 3, 1984.

* Banderia ($10) enabled trainer Marty Wolfson to win the $75,000 Aspidistra Handicap for the fifth time when she drew off to a two-length victory at Calder.

* Dash for Daylight ($6.20) wore down the pacesetting Better Road in deep stretch to win the $60,000 Don Bernhardt Handicap by a half-length at Ellis Park. Bet on Sunshine, the 10-year-old who had twice won the Bernhardt, loomed a threat at the top of the stretch but couldn't sustain his rally and finished third.

* Docent ($5.60) overtook Sumset just before the wire to score a neck victory in the $50,000 Iroquois Handicap for Pennsylvania-breds at Philadelphia Park.

* Just Scarlet ($32.20) caught pacesetter Distinctive Code at the wire to win the $50,000 Chapel Belle Stakes by a head at Louisiana Downs.

* Sempai ($6.40) was allowed an uncontested lead and romped to a three-length victory in the $50,770 Ernest Finley Handicap at the Sonoma County Fair.

* Martha's Music ($6.60), one of only four 3-year-old fillies who stayed in the race when it was moved from the turf course to the main track, cruised to a 10 1/2-length victory in the $145,500 Martha Washington Breeders' Cup Handicap at Laurel Park.
