Saturday stakes recaps (8/27/05)


* Zarb's Dahar ($7.60), riding a seven-race local win streak, made it eight in a row at Louisiana Downs with a determined effort in the $50,000 Folklore Handicap. That Tat was second in the 6 1/2-furlong sprint.

* Facing just three rivals, Holy Ground ($7.40) cruised to a 13 1/4-length victory in the $56,454 Stanton Stakes at Delaware Park. Seven horses scratched when the race was switched from the turf to a sealed wet-fast track.

* Whiskey For Me ($10.20) was up for a neck win over favorite Ready Ruler in the $40,000 Jim Bowie at Retama Park. It was another half-length back in third to Justa Red Bird.

* Passion Fever ($5.60) drove to a three-quarter-length win over entrymate Racing Sundown in the $40,000 Black Mesa at Remington Park. Rammers Best was third.

* Kelly Carson ($15.40) invaded from Kansas and collected her second straight stakes win with a head victory over Thoughtuwasatoad in the $10,625 Club House Special for 2-year-olds at Columbus.
