* David Junior took advantage of a fast pace to blast from last to first in the Group 1, $836,000 Eclipse Stakes at Sandown Park in England as favored Ouija Board ran into repeated trouble and finished fifth.

* Spread the News ($6.30) won his stakes debut in the $150,400 Clarendon, a five-furlong dash for Ontario-foaled 2-year-olds at Woodbine. David Clark was aboard for trainer Bob Tiller.

* Stone Rain ($6.60) was unchallenged on the lead as he romped to victory in the $51,200 Sam J. Whiting Handicap at the Alameda County Fair. An $80,000 claim in March, Stone Rain notched his fourth straight victory as he ran six furlongs in 1:08.17 to beat late-closing Old Man River by five lengths.

* Bamboo Gap kept his perfect record on the turf intact at Louisiana Downs as he led throughout to win the $50,000 Excalibur Stakes. Clock finished second, and Mighty Mystery reported home third.

* Sentimental Charm did not disappoint in her role as the favorite when she held off six Minnesota-bred rivals in the $40,000 Frances Genter Stakes at Canterbury Park. Also on the card, Rock 'N Fire narrowly prevailed over six rivals to capture the $40,000 Victor S. Myers Jr. Stakes at six furlongs.

* P. Kerney ($4.60) held off fast-closing 3-5 favorite Cherokee's Boy by a nose in the $76,050 Crying for More Stakes at Charles Town.
