Saturday stakes recaps (7/16/05)


* Noble Stella held off Classic Stamp in the final furlong for a one-length victory in the Grade 3, $340,800 Dance Smartly Handicap at Woodbine

* Accountforthegold went straight to the lead and pulled away to a three-length win in the $168,400 New York Derby for New York-bred 3-year-olds at Finger Lakes.

* Premier Dance ($5.60) handled the wet track and rallied from off the pace to score a one-length win in the $75,000 Middleground Breeders' Cup at Lone Star Park.

* Girlish Giggle ($7) made the lead at the sixteenth pole and drew off to a three-length win over six Ohio-bred rivals in the $75,000 Rose DeBartolo Memorial at Thistledown.

* J. D.'s Blue Bayou ($4.20) picked up his second consecutive stakes win, rallying to score a 1 3/4-length win the $54,540 Alpine at Louisiana Downs.

* Kaylan's Rose ($31.60) won her second consecutive stakes, scoring a half-length victory over Strike Me Lucky in the $75,000 HBPA Handicap at Ellis Park.

* Beezer ($60.40) rallied to edge favored Yerevan Star by a neck in the $51,500 Vacaville Handicap at the Solano County Fair.
