Saturday stakes recaps (6/21/03)


Other Saturday stakes:

* Jockey Julian Pimentel played an overwhelming speed bias to perfection to guide Follow Me Home ($12.20) to a two-length win in the $50,000 Crank It Up Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Monmouth Park.

* Nashinda ($2.50) annihilated her four opponents in the five-furlong, $167,124 My Dear Stakes at Woodbine, winning by five lengths without any urging from jockey David Clark. Battlements ($4.70) notched his first stakes in the supporting feature, the $106,000 Afleet Stakes for Canadian-bred 3-year-olds.

* Perfect Moment ($33.40) captured the $40,000 Canterbury Park Oaks with an unusual trip that saw her on the lead at the first call and sixth on the far turn before she rallied to draw clear by 1 1/4 lengths.

* No Its Not ($3.80) picked up his second stakes win of the meeting, defeating four rivals in the $35,000 Evangeline Downs Sprint Championship.

* All That Glitters ($9.40) overcame a three-length deficit at the top of the stretch to score a four-length victory in the $50,000 Somethingroyal Stakes at Colonial Downs.
