Saturday stakes recaps (6/12/04)

* Native Heir ($3.60) set the pace in the two path and held on to win the $50,000 Punch Line for Virginia-bred or Virginia-sired horses at Colonial Downs. Satan's Code moved to second in the stretch and finished fast, but lost by a length.

* Breaking sharply under John Jacinto, Boston Express quickly cleared her seven rivals in the $50,000 Dixie Miss Stakes at Louisiana Downs and cruised to victory by almost 10 lengths in a stakes-record time of 1:09.25 for the six furlongs.

* Wildwood Royal ($9.60) dueled to the final turn before kicking clear to record a 2 1/2-length victory over 3-5 favorite Miss Fortunate in the $50,000 Wild Rose Stakes for fillies and mares at Prairie Meadows. She covered the 1 1/16 miles in 1:41.44.

* Native Hawk bested nine rivals to capture the $40,000 Brooks Fields Stakes at Canterbury Park after rain forced the race off the turf. The even-money favorite, Native Hawk completed the mile in 1:35.41 on the fast main track.

* Thundering Verzy ($2.80) lived up to his favoritism as he throttled five others in the $15,600 State Fair Breeders' Special for Nebraska-bred 3-year-olds at the Lincoln State Fair.
