Saturday stakes recaps (5/28/05)


* In a field that appeared loaded with speed, Dream On Dream On ($18.80) surprisingly went right to the front and led throughout en route to a 1 3/4-length victory over Magic Speed in the $75,000 Simply Majestic Stakes at Calder.

* Sunriseontheoasis ($6.80) sprinted clear early and held on to score a half-length victory over Camela Carson in the $60,130 Bob Bryant for Iowa-bred 3-year-old fillies at Prairie Meadows.

* Victory Lap ($4.20), rallying strongly under Gerard Melancon after encountering traffic problems in the final turn, extended her winning streak to four races in the $50,000 Chapel Belle Stakes at Louisiana Downs.

* Lights on Broadway ($10.80) surpassed the $500,000 mark in earnings when he drove to a 1 1/4-length win in the $50,000 Carter McGregor Jr. Memorial Stakes for Texas-breds at Lone Star Park.

* Jockey Eric Camacho guided Tacirring ($5.80) along a hole that opened up on the rail in the stretch and the 6-year-old gelding responded by drawing off to a 2 1/4-length win in the $50,000 Ben Cohen Stakes at Pimlico.

* Just Michel ($2.80) angled four wide for racing room entering the stretch and rallied to defeat Southbound Katie by a half-length to win her third consecutive stakes in the $40,000 Brent's Princess at Thistledown.
