Saturday stakes recaps (2/26/05)

S C King, ridden by Armando Martinez, wins the $10,625 Bachman Stakes for 3-year-olds; trained by Lalita Ontiveros.

* Friel's for Real ($3.60) scored an easy 5 1/2-length victory in the $50,000 Maryland Racing Media Handicap at Laurel Park. She covered 1 1/8 miles on a fast track in 1:52.81 for her 10th victory in 18 lifetime starts.

* Silver Bid ($4) beat Stormy Impact by 1 1/4 lengths in a $42,000 overnight sprint stakes at Hawthorne dubbed the Hula Chief. It was the fifth victory at Hawthorne and 16th overall for Silver Bid.

* Miss Confusion ($8) led throughout for a two-length win over 2-5 favorite So Much More in the $50,000 Sweetheart Stakes at Delta Downs. Cute N Noble finished third, 5 1/2 lengths behind So Much More.

* Ambition Unbridled ($3.40) proved much the best in the $40,000 Citgo, which came off the turf, winning the five-furlong race by 4 1/4 lengths over Peace Symbol at Sam Houston Race Park. It was another 2 3/4 lengths back in third to Seneca Song.

* S C King staked his claim to be called the top 3-year-old at Fonner Park with a gate-to-wire win in the $10,625 Bachman Stakes. He finished the four-furlong distance in 46.40 seconds on a fast track.
