Saturday stakes recaps (10/22/05)


* Love Locket ($6) easily turned back a challenge from 14-1 Stylish Yankee and pulled away to a 3 3/4-length victory in the $100,000 Blue Hen Stakes for 2-year-old fillies at Delaware Park.

* Mr. Trieste ($4.60) made his sixth consecutive win a memorable one when he shattered a track record while winning the $65,800 Kachina Mile by 6 1/2 lengths at Zia Park. He covered the distance over a fast track in 1:36.60, slightly more than three seconds faster than the previous record. The track in Hobbs, N.M,. opened its inaugural meet on Sept. 23.

* Sound Moon ($25.60), last of 10 and beaten 21 lengths in the Maryland Million Nursery a week earlier in his career debut, loved the muddy conditions at Charles Town and romped to a 3 1/2-length victory in the $50,000 Tri-State Futurity.

* The filly Fly to Me ($5.40), one of four winners on the card ridden by Joe Badamo, enabled trainer Anthony Ferraro to capture the $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile for the third consecutive year when she came from off the pace to prevail by three-quarters of a length.

* Lady Blue Sky ($4.60), claimed for $12,500 in July by trainer Scott Lake, scored by 6 1/2 lengths in the $40,000 Merrillville Stakes at Hoosier Park. She will be pointed for the Frances Slocum Stakes on Nov. 19 at Hoosier before returning to Lake's East Coast base.

* Proper Carson ($6.60) drew out to a seven-length win in the $20,000 Woodlands Derby at The Woodlands.
