Saturday stakes recaps (10/15/05)


* Schoolin You came through along the inside to take the lead entering the stretch, then repulsed a prolonged challenge from Raise the Bluff to prevail by a neck in the $100,000 Gottstein Futurity at Emerald Downs.

* Cause to Believe ($2.80) stalked maiden Crafty Ang and pulled away in the stretch to win the $68,200 Bay Meadows Juvenile Stakes. Cause to Believe earned $36,250 for his third win in five starts and now has career earnings of $98,725.

* Spruce's Prince gave Gerald Romero the 1,000th Thoroughbred win of his training career, rallying from off the pace for a 1 1/2-length victory in the $40,000 No Le Hace Stakes on closing day art Retama.

* Jazzy Okie ($4.60) dueled early and drew clear late to win her second career stakes race in the $40,000 E.L. Gaylord Memorial at Remington. Brownie Points, 70-1, finished three and a quarter lengths back in second.

* Cryptograph rallied strongly from last in a six-horse field to win the Grade 3, $161,050 Durham Cup Handicap at Woodbine.

* Manovan ($3.40) dominated the KTA Futurity at The Woodlands in Kansas City, Kan., rolling to a 12 1/2-length win in the race restricted to the offspring of eligible stallions.
