Saturday stakes recaps (10/1/05)


* A yielding turf course and an honest pace helped Dancing Master ($19.60) rally to a neck victory over Keep Cool in the $100,000 Flying Pidgeon Handicap at Calder.

* Knights Templar ($10.10) led throughout the $270,400 Mazarine Breeders' Cup at Woodbine, taking the Grade 3 stakes for 2-year-old fillies by 13 1/4 lengths.

* Distinctive Trick ($38.60), the longest shot in a field of five 3-year-olds, shot through along the rail turning into the stretch and won the $60,000 Sonny Hine Stakes at Laurel Park by seven lengths.

* Precisepursuit ($34) caught odds-on favorite Blushing Marian in the final furlong and drew off to a 2 3/4-length victory in the $50,000 Finger Lakes Juvenile Fillies.

* Art Show ($11.80) took the lead at the start and was never headed in the $50,000 Salem County Stakes on turf for 2-year-olds at The Meadowlands.

* Katy Smiles ($3.40), returning from a layoff following a big win at Canterbury, drew off to a three-length victory in the $40,000 City of Phoenix Handicap for 3-year-old fillies at Turf Paradise.
