* Syncline ($24.40), checked and steadied while bottled up down the backstretch, came through along the inside turning for home and won the $100,000 Sussex Handicap at Delaware Park by a nose over Dr. Kashnikow.

* Favored Legs o'Neal ($5.80) took command in the stretch to score a 1 3/4-length victory in the $75,000 Bayouland Stakes at Evangeline Downs. The winner survived a foul claim lodged by the rider of second-place finisher Lamarche's Oro for alleged interference in the turn.

* Trainer Steve Flint won for the seventh time in 11 starts at the Ellis Park meet when Cat's Glow ($20.20) captured the $60,000 Audubon Oaks by a length over Lotta Rhythm.

* Cellars Shiraz ($2.80) gave her backers some anxious moments when she stumbled at the start of the $50,000 Convenience Stakes at Calder, but recovered and captured the 1 1/16-mile turf stakes by 1 1/2 lengths.

* Prince Iroquois ($7.40) drew off to win the $50,000 Ark-La-Tex Handicap at Louisiana Downs by 2 3/4 lengths, his 11th victory in 35 career starts.

* Bien Nicole ($5.20) showed a new dimension in the $50,000 Margarita Breeders' Cup at Retama Park when she closed from 10 lengths off the pace for a 2 1/4-length win over Wolfnik.

* Maryland-bred sprinter Sassy Hound ($6.40) won for the 13th time in 25 career starts in the $50,000 Dave's Friend Stakes at Laurel Park.

* Don't Countess Out ($7.80) received a perfect trip under jockey Terry Thompson and rallied for a 1 1/2-length victory in the $40,000 Iowa State Fair Stakes at Prairie Meadows.

* Hackendiffy ($2.10) easily won the $40,000 Hoover Stakes for Ohio-bred 2-year-olds at River Downs.
