Sassy Love, winless in 12 starts since Dec. 8, 2005, suddenly ended her slump, battling for the lead early, turning back challenges entering the lane, and winning the $75,000 Geisha for Maryland-bred fillies and mares to set up some big payoffs. Sassy Love covered the 1 1/8 miles in 1:54.14 under Luis Garcia and paid $33.60. Trained by Casey Randall for owner Michael Harrison, she won her third race in 22 lifetime starts. Sassy Love topped a trio of double-digit horses in win, place, and show. Best to You, 12-1 under Rosie Napravnik, rallied from second-last for second, beaten 3 3/4 lengths, and pace-stalker Katie's Love, 14-1 under Steve Hamilton, finished another head back in third. The exacta paid $469.20, the trifecta $4,147.40. Promenade Girl, the 4-5 favorite, had a three-wide trip stalking the pace, was asked for more run by rider Jeremy Rose going around the turn, and came up empty, finishing fifth. "She got a little tired on me," Rose said. "She was running comfortably and felt sound. I asked her to run and she didn't respond. She will be back next year."
