Saratoga: Trinniberg works in the fog

Trinniberg will make his next start in the Grade 1 King's Bishop on Aug. 25.

Trinniberg had his scheduled five-furlong work moved up a couple of hours Friday to avoid the rain that was moving in. Trinniberg missed the rain, but wound up encountering fog that blanketed the main track by the time he and jockey Willie Martinez began their work at the five-furlong pole shortly after 6:30 a.m.

Fortunately, with a little help from owner Shivananda Parbhoo who was positioned right at the five-eighths pole at the time, it was possible to clock Trinniberg in 1:01.62, the last quarter in 25.69, for his final major drill prior for the Grade 1 King’s Bishop on Aug. 25.

“I didn’t get to see anything because of the fog, but Willie was happy with the way he went,” said Parbhoo whose father Bisnath Parboo trains Trinniberg. “He didn’t really gallop out much after the work because we normally only breeze him four furlongs and let him gallop out five-eighths. Since he went five furlongs this morning, we didn’t want him doing too much once he got past the wire.”
