Trappe Shot, outside of Gallant Dreams, was clocked in 48.20 seconds Sunday morning at Saratoga.

Trainer Kiaran McLaughlin’s top older sprinter, Trappe Shot, worked four furlongs in 48.20 seconds ion Sunday at Saratoga in company with Gallant Dreams in preparation for a start in the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap on Aug. 7.

"He galloped out well, looked great doing it, just what we wanted,’’ McLaughlin said. "We’ll do this again next Sunday, weather permitting. We like where we are.’’

Other workers of note Sunday at Saratoga included Aviate, who went five furlongs in 59.48 seconds on the turf for next weekend’s Diana, and Bold Warrior, who went seven furlongs in 1:27.69 in preparation for the Curlin Stakes on Friday. Bold Warrior’s work came two days after jockey Jose Lezcano fell off Bold Warrior during what was supposed to be a seven-furlong work, but ultimately turned into a three-furlong move.

Stacelita, the third-place finisher in the United Nations, worked five furlongs in 1:00.82 over the Oklahoma turf course in preparation for the Beverly D. at Arlington. She worked in company with Desert Sage, who is being to the Ballston Spa here on Aug. 27.
