DEL MAR, Calif. – Sweet Lulu is unbeaten, and she’s about to be tested.

The winner of all three of her starts in impression fashion, Sweet Lulu will make her stakes debut against Grade 1 company in the $500,000 Test  on Saturday at Saratoga, according to her trainer, Jerry Hollendorfer.

“Right now, she’s real good,” Hollendorfer said of the reason to aim for the Test rather than the Torrey Pines Stakes later this meet at Del Mar. The Torrey Pines is the expected next start for last year’s champion 2-year-old filly, Beholder.

Sweet Lulu worked five furlongs in 1:00.80 on Saturday at Del Mar. Of the 165 works Saturday at Del Mar, hers was the only one designated as breezing.

Sweet Lulu comes off an easy, 4 3/4-length allowance win July 24 at Del Mar going one mile on Polytrack. Prior to that, she won twice sprinting at Betfair Hollywood Park against maidens and a first-level allowance field, so the turn back to seven furlongs for the Test should not be an issue.

Sweet Lulu was scheduled to fly from California to Saratoga on Tuesday. Hollendorfer said Julien Leparoux would have the mount.
