Saratoga: Stacelita has first work since Beverly D. score

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - Stacelita and Zagora, trainer Chad Brown’s pair of Grade 1 turf stakes winners, put in workouts separately Saturday morning in preparation for their next starts.

Stacelita, working for the first time since she won the Beverly D. at Arlington Park on Aug. 13, worked four furlongs in 48.30 seconds over the Oklahoma turf course. She is preparing for a start in the Grade 1 Flower Bowl Invitational at Belmont Park on Oct.1.

“Just wanted to let her stretch her legs,” Brown said. “Her energy level has been very good. She was dying to do something. If everything’s good with her and all the stars are aligned we’ll go to the Flower Bowl.”

Meanwhile, Diana winner Zagora worked four furlongs in 50.60 seconds in company with the 2-year-old maiden filly Book Review over the Oklahoma dirt course. Zagora is pointing to the Grade 2, $300,000 Canadian at Woodbine on Sept. 18.

“She went very well, she’s very sharp,” Brown said.
