Saratoga: Prime Cut preparing for stakes

Prime Cut, idle since finishing 11th in the Belmont Stakes, worked five furlongs in 1:00.22 and galloped out six furlongs in 1:13.43 for trainer Neil Howard shortly after the renovation break Friday at Saratoga.

“We’re considering both the Curlin and a stakes on the turf for his next start,” Howard said. “I discussed with Mr. Adam [Donald] the possibility of trying him on the grass, especially since he handled the Polytrack so well finishing second in the Lexington during the spring. I had the opportunity to work him on the turf before leaving Kentucky, and he handled it well, which gives us options with him.”
