Saratoga pick six has $192K carryover

Email

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - There will be a pick-six carryover of $192,141 into Friday's Saratoga card after Thursday's pick six was essentially canceled following the third leg because the final three legs of the sequence were moved from the turf to the dirt after wagering had closed.

By state law, when more than one race in the pick six sequence undergoes a change of surface, 75 percent of the pick six pool will be carried over into the next day's card while 25 percent of the pool will be paid out as a consolation payout to those tickets that had the winners of the first three legs. The winners of those races were Fire with Fire ($7.20), Metrology ($7.90) and Gunman ($10.60). So those who had the first three winners received a consolation payout of $69.50 in the pick six.

The decision and subsequent announcement of the change of surfaces came following the sixth race, or third leg of the pick-six. Races 7 through 9 were scheduled for the turf, but were moved to the dirt because of rain.

There was a carryover of $58,602 entering Thursday's card and an additional $240,619 was wagered on Thursday.

In the late pick four, the final three legs were considered "all-win" races. So those, who had Gunman in the first leg hit the pick four, which returned $10.80.
