Saratoga pick six carryover of $309,846 for Saturday

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Adding spice to an already solid card at Saratoga, there will be a pick six carryover of $309,846 into Saturday’s 11-race program.

The pick six starts with race 6 (3:53 p.m. Eastern) and includes three stakes races – the Grade 1 Alfred G. Vanderbilt, Grade 2 Bowling Green, and Grade 2 Jim Dandy, the latter of which will have a four-horse field.

The pick six has gone unhit here since Monday. On Friday, with a $90,851 carryover, an additional $309,846 was wagered into the pool. Many tickets were out after the first leg when the Todd Pletcher-trained Gangster ($44.60) won a 3-year-old maiden race. Pletcher won two more races in the sequence – with Tennessee ($6.50) and Matterhorn ($11.60) – and was disqualified from another win then the stewards took down Global Strike and Da Big Hoss was declared the winner.

There were live tickets to three horses entering the final leg, but the uncovered Diva Express ($24.60) ran by the covered Hardcore in the stretch to trigger the carryover.

The Jim Dandy had seven entered, but Tekton ran in Friday’s Curlin Stakes, and Competitive Edge and Upstart are going to scratch and run in Sunday’s $1.75 million Haskell Invitational at Monmouth Park. That leaves a field of four: Frammento, Japan, Texas Red, and Frosted.

In addition to the three stakes, the pick six sequence includes three allowance races scheduled for turf, each with full fields.
