Trainer Wesley Ward is confident he will finally get the first Grade 1 win of his career when he sends out Judy the Beauty later this month in the Ballerina. But first, Ward will have an opportunity to pick up a Group 1 victory in Europe when he sends No Nay Never to Deauville in France for Sunday’s Prix Morny.

No Nay Never, a son of Scat Daddy, has already made a name for himself in Europe after winning the Group 2 Norfolk Stakes while posting the fastest time ever recorded by a 2-year-old going five furlongs at Royal Ascot. No Nay Never has been training with Ward’s Keeneland division since returning from England. He was scheduled to depart for Paris, along with Ward, on Tuesday.

As for Judy the Beauty, she could not have looked better working five furlongs in 58.22 and galloping out six furlongs in 1:11.47 with jockey Joel Rosario aboard after the renovation break on Sunday. Judy the Beauty, beaten a nose by Emma’s Encore in the Grade 1 Prioress here last summer, has finished second in each of her last two starts, including the Grade 1 Princess Rooney Handicap at Calder, where she was victimized by a slow start and wide trip.

“She liked this track last year and has been training well and I’m really confident she’s going to run a big race in the Ballerina,” said Ward ,who has horses stabled at Saratoga, Keeneland, and Gulfstream Park this summer. “It was a killer getting beat like she did in the Prioress but that’s behind us now. You’ve got to forget those things and just keep looking forward in this business.”

Ward also will have a second opportunity to win a Grade 1 race here before the meet ends with Hollywood Talent, who will run in the Hopeful Stakes for juveniles on closing day. Hollywood Talent finished a tiring third after contesting the early pace in the Grade 2 Sanford earlier in the meet. Hollywood Talent worked a half-mile in company in 48.87 and galloped out five-eighths in 1:01.22 here Monday.

Dayatthespa formidable in Yaddo

Dayatthespa will be heavily favored when facing only five other New York-bred fillies in Friday’s $150,000 Yaddo, carded at 1 1/16 miles on turf. Dayatthespa, who scratched out of the Grade 1 Diana Handicap, is coming off a second-place finish behind Diana winner Laughing in the Grade 3 Eatontown Handicap on June 29. Dayatthespa, who dominated the U Go West Girl Stakes at 1-5 when taking on New York-breds at Belmont Park on May 5, became a Grade 1 winner last fall with her victory in the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes at Keeneland.

Dayatthespa will face stakes winner Shakeira, Wholelottashakin, Inimitable Romance, Sally’s Dream, and Love Stanza Chance.
