Saratoga: Magical Moon likely favorite in Coronation Cup

Magical Moon, an impressive allowance winner on turf in her last start, may vie for favoritism along with the stakes winner Funfair and the speedy Lignite in Monday’s co-feature, the $100,000 Coronation Cup, carded at 5 1/2 furlongs on turf for 3-year-old fillies.

Magical Moon, who cruised to an easy maiden win when making her turf debut here last summer, rallied to a popular 2 3/4-length entry-level allowance victory at Churchill Downs in her most recent start for trainer Al Stall Jr.

“It took us a while to zero in on the fact that she is a turf sprinter,” Stall said. “We got her back to turf sprinting at Churchill Downs, and she ran just a lights-out race. Straight 3-year-old fillies, turf sprints is what she was put on this earth to do, and we’re big-time excited about it.”

That was the worst ride I've seen in a while. Had the best horse and melted her with those ridiculous fractions. Wonder how much he made on the race.

Honestly now, do these so called world class jockeys have any clue to just how fast they've traveling. Just watched Joel point and gun that filly. That was absurd!
