SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. -- While Saginaw returns off a 65-day layoff in Wednesday's co-featured John Morrissey Stakes at Saratoga, Lady On the Run wheels back on just 10 days’ rest in the $100,000 Fleet Indian. After running twice in 17 days in May, Lady On the Run was away for two months before winning the Arctic Queen at Finger Lakes on July 21. Trainer John Morrison said he basically treated that as a workout for Lady On the Run, who ran six furlongs in 1:11.45.
“I ran her back twice in May, and it took her a little bit of time to rebound from that second race,” Morrison said. “I kind of used the Arctic Queen as basically being her last work to set us up for Saratoga.”
Lady On the Run finished second in both of those races in May, once to Opus A and once to Risky Rachel, both of whom are in this race.
Morrison would like to see those two – and perhaps Devilish Spirit – get in a speed duel.
“As long as we have contested pace, we’re going to be fine,” Morrison said.
Risky Rachel has won four of her last six dirt starts, including that 4 3/4-length victory over Lady On the Run on May 4.
Opus A has won her last three starts against New York-bred company and comes off a second-place finish to R Gypsy Gold in the Endear Stakes on July 4.

Lady On The Run beat a decent 3 year old filly and three tomato cans at the Thumb. Just sayin...

Best Bets
DRINK OR SINK went too fast on the lead last time before fading on the turf at Tampa, and should be less aggressive here with blinkers off. Olguin was aboard for his good fall races on the Poly, and should have him closing at a square price in his second start of the year. GOOD BETTER BEST finished up the track behind two next-out winners when he tried the dirt for the first time March 30 at Gulfstream. He hasn't faced this easy a field in a while, and is no stranger to filling out the exactor.
