Saratoga: Deluxe's U.S. debut delayed as she is scratched from De La Rose

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - The highly anticipated North American debut of the royally-bred filly Deluxe will have to wait.

Deluxe was scratched out of Saturday’s $75,000 De La Rose Stakes at Saratoga because of a high muscle enzyme count, trainer Bill Mott said.

"She tied up about 10 days ago and her muscle enzymes are still a bit high," said Mott, who trains Deluxe for Juddmonte Farms. "We drew blood yesterday and it was slightly off kilter. It’s nearly back to normal but we decided if everything wasn’t perfect we weren’t going to run."

Mott said that Deluxe did train on Saturday morning.

Deluxe is a daughter of Storm Cat out of the dam Hasili, which makes her a half-sister to Grade 1 winners Banks Hill, Intercontinental, Champs Elysees, Cacique, and Heat Haze. Deluxe won 3 of 6 starts in France when trained by Andre Fabre.

Also scratched from the De La Rose was Spring Party, who is also entered to run at Mountaineer on Saturday, and Spa City Princess, who was entered for main-track only.
