SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. - There’s something about the third day of the Saratoga meet that brings out the best in jockey Javier Castellano.

Last year, Castellano won five consecutive races on the third day of the 40-day meeting. On Sunday, day 3 of the 143rd Saratoga season, Castellano reeled off three consecutive winners, capped by a half-length-victory aboard Chorus Music in the $77,500 Irish Linnet Stakes for New York-bred fillies on the turf.

Castellano started his streak by winning the fifth aboard War Colony ($17.20) and the sixth on Coaltown Legend ($16). Castellano was denied his fourth consecutive winner on the card when Enrichment, his mount in the eighth, a maiden turf event, finished eighth.

Breaking from the outside post in the Irish Linnet, Castellano had Chorus Music in fifth position behind Spa City Princess and Considerate, who dueled through a quarter in 23.41 seconds a half-mile in 47.62.

Castellano was four-wide on the second turn and advanced to the leaders by the top of the stretch. Mystic City had taken a short lead in upper stretch, but Chorus Music collared her inside the sixteenth pole and held off the late charge of a six-wide Gitchee Goomie to get the victory. Gitchee Goomie, the 3-2 favorite, was second by a head over Frivolous Buck.

Chorus Music, a 6-year-old daughter of Strategic Mission owned by Curragh Stables and trained by John Terranova, covered the mile in 1:35.87 over firm turf and returned $8.10 to win as the second choice.

Chorus Music is now 2 for 3 this year with both wins coming in the Irish Linnet. She won the previous race of the same name at Belmont in April.
