ARCADIA, Calif. – Suggestive Boy, the top turf miler in California this year, will miss an expected start in Friday’s $300,000 Maker’s 46 Mile at Keeneland because of a splint bone injury, trainer Ron McAnally said on Tuesday.

McAnally described the injury as “nothing too serious.”

“He’s got a little tiny splint and he can’t make the race in Kentucky,” McAnally said. “It’s very minor. We X-rayed it and it wasn’t displaced. We’ll need about a week or 10 days and we can re-X-ray him and see how it looks.

“It could have been worse. We’ve got a chance to run him later this year.”

Suggestive Boy, a 5-year-old Argentine-bred horse, has won 7 of 13 starts and $677,370. Owned by Jose Cerillo and Federico Fantini Jr., Suggestive Boy is unbeaten in two starts this year, both at Santa Anita on turf – the Grade 2 Arcadia Mile on Feb. 2 and the Grade 1 Frank Kilroe Mile on March 2.

In the Maker’s 46 Mile, Suggestive Boy would have faced 2012 Horse of the Year Wise Dan. The last time they met, Wise Dan won his final start of 2012 in the Breeders’ Cup Mile at Santa Anita last November. Suggestive Boy finished seventh of nine in that race.
