Santa Anita: Pick-six carryover of $49,844 for Saturday card

ARCADIA, Calif. – There is a pick-six carryover of $49,844 on Saturday’s nine-race program at Santa Anita.

Saturday’s pick six covers the fourth through ninth races on a program that begins at 12:30 p.m. Pacific.

There are two $200,000 stakes for 3-year-old California-breds that are part of the pick-six races – the Evening Jewel Stakes for fillies and the Echo Eddie Stakes. Each race has 11 entrants.

In the Evening Jewel, the speedy Sweet Marini, unraced since beating maidens in her debut last November, is the 8-5 morning-line favorite. She must hold off Doinghardtimeagain, who won the Soviet Problem Stakes at Betfair Hollywood Park last December.

In the Echo Eddie Stakes, Omega Star, seventh in the San Felipe Stakes on March 9, is the 7-2 favorite on the morning line. There will be support for Follini, who was a game second in his debut earlier this month. The field was reduced from 12 entrants to 11 when Hunger was scratched Friday.

In Saturday’s fourth race, Sugar Mountain and Blazing Dancer were early scratches from a maiden claimer over 5 1/2 furlongs.

In the ninth race, run over six furlongs for $10,500 to $12,500 claimers, Whipstock and Sun’s Out are withdrawn. The race has 10 entrants.
