Santa Anita: Pick-six carryover of $430,034 for Monday

Email

ARCADIA, Calif. – For the second time in a week, there is a multiday carryover in the pick six at Santa Anita for Monday.

The carryover of $430,034 was caused when Ancient Stone ($152.80) pulled a surprise win in Sunday’s ninth race, for maiden claimers over seven furlongs.

There was a three-day carryover of $575,466 into racing last Thursday. Bettors added $2,279,941 to the pool.

Monday’s program might not be easy. The pick six covers the fifth through 10th races on a program that begins at 1 p.m. Pacific. The first leg of the pick six is due off shortly after 3 p.m.

There were early scratches Sunday in several of Monday’s pick-six races. In the fifth race, Lady Ta Ta is withdrawn from a maiden race over a mile on turf for California-breds. Top Fortitude and Kaepernick have been scratched from the sixth race, a maiden race for 2-year-olds over 5 1/2 furlongs. The seventh race is a $25,000 claimer over a mile on turf. Major Affair has been withdrawn.

In the eighth race, over 5 1/2 furlongs, Backstreet Boss is out of a $12,500 claimer, leaving 10 runners. The morning-line favorite in the eighth race is Hodge at 2-1. Hodge is the shortest-priced morning-line favorite in Monday’s pick-six races, an indication of the competitive nature of some races.

In the ninth race, Tiz a Minister is out of an optional claimer over 1 1/8 miles on turf. The race still has 10 starters.

The final race is a 14-runner maiden claimer over seven furlongs. There were no early scratches in the 10th race.

In addition to the pick-six carryover, there is a carryover of $32,694 in the $1 super high five for Monday’s 10th race.

Tough to handicap the interference in the stretch Thurs-Sunday. Stewards need to rein in some jockeys on deliberate stretch interference. Those with more horse left have to look out for crazy swerves of tiring horses, go wide, and get in demolition derby.

Horse Plus 2 Cents Verrazano worked a bullet 1:01 in company with Capo Bastone over the Belmont training track. Verrazano is training to the BC dirt mile and Bastone to the BC turf sprint. Royal Delta worked a bullet at Belmont in 46 2/5. Ron the Greek went in 47 2/5 also at Belmont. Mucho Macho Man went 47 2/5 at Santa Anita. Orb worked an easy 49 3/5 and is considering the Cigar Mile. A CHRB board member and Steward competed in the World Iron Man Championships. Although a fine effort, he finished out of the money in 194th. Keenland set more attendance records. What's interesting is that they have now set attendance records for four consecutive meets.

Yesterdays 9th race was also maidens going 7 furlongs, I have hunch its another , "ta da" CARRY-OVER .......................tough card, ALL the favorites are primed to go down, especially when you have a favorite like Hodge who spits out the bit everytime !

for most this is the ultimate sucker bet,as is the high 5 ...the way these sucker bets are promoted is shameless..i would suggest that these are actually bad long term for racing because the deplete players depriving them of the sensation of actually winning something..those that disagree how many times have you hit a pick 6 or a super high 5 ?.. I have actually hit the pick 6 4 times .but know people who play everyday and have never hit one..win betting should be promoted to beginners and maybe doubles and exactas at least until their skill improves.
