Santa Anita: Pick six carryover of $419,541 for Thursday

ARCADIA, Calif. – There is a two-day pick six carryover of $419,541 on Thursday at Santa Anita.

The absence of a winning favorite in the first five races of Monday’s pick six, and wins by longshots such as Texas Ryano ($51.80) and Wonderful Lie ($36.40), clinched the carryover. With two days without racing before Thursday, the pool of new money may exceed $2 million.

Thursday’s pick six covers the third through eighth races on an eight-race program that begins at 1 p.m. Pacific.

The sequence begins with two sprints – a $50,000 claimer on the hillside turf course and a maiden claimer over 5 1/2 furlongs – and has four one-mile races to conclude the program.

The mile races are a maiden race for California-breds on turf, an $8,000 claimer on dirt, an optional claimer for California-breds on turf, and a maiden claimer on dirt.

The fields are not large, with 7, 8, 10, 9, 8, and 9 horses entered in the pick six races.

Do you realize how much money the tracks are making on BREAKAGE alone ? Its almost worst than the "past posting " that is taking place ! For every pay off that is $2.21-2.39, or $2,41-$2.59 or $2.61-$2.79 the tracks rounds it down to $2.20, $2.40, $2.60 and $2.80, thats $.19 on every dollar that they put into their pockets, seems like this highway robbery has gone on way too long, but they dont care ! The figure the public is an idiot, whos going to stop it ? CROOKS ! Stronich is right at the front of the line !

It was never, you couldn't beat the races, it was always TAKEOUT,,,,,In racing heyday (no pun) the tracks were run off breakage, utilities, prop taxes, payroll ect !

There was a great story about 2 weeks ago, on one of our local radio shows . One of the paramutual managers, for the latest tote company , hired his brothers company to set up the system after the PICK 6 fiasco of 6 years ago. After the NYRA and the other tracks told them what they needed , he told them, it could be done, but it needed to be protected because someone could access the system and place bets up to 40 seconds into a race. The tracks declined a patch that would have cost alot of money, and this guy was saying "of course people are getting in late bets, its not hard to do " Sucks when you are 10-1 in the gate , 7-1 on the far turn and 9-2 when they hit the wire, and DRF and the tracks say NOTHING ! Are they involved ?BETTING PUBLIC $$$$

Yet another form of tote price manipulation. Track "handle" includes more than just the stated % amount. The big portion is what they want to keep after the race starts. Through payout odds changing during race.

Pari Mutuels are rigged anyways. money always seems to come in on the winner right after the finish line. how is this allowed in 20124?

Here what will happen on thursday: they'll be a few more longshots hit, and a few middle prices. The track will "post " that 3 tickets are live going into final race, they will hit. And the track will post a huge pick 6 payout. Trouble is, nobody will actually have the tickets, and santa anita gets to keep entire pool, acting like they paid it out to 3 winners. Not a soul in the betting public knows any different. Pretty slick deal huh.

Santa Anita makes it real obvious they cheat to create a carryover.Just look at yesterday first three races on the card 3.20 3.60 and 6.40 they card a stakes race with a obvious single so it will not be part of the pick 6 just to make it harder to hit.I cant play a bet where the house wants no one to hit it anyone who plays this bet is a idiot plain and simple. How many times do you see it where a 50-1 shot or better wins the last race to creat a carry over happens on a regular basis at SA.
