Santa Anita: Pick six carryover of $110,484 for Saturday

ARCADIA, Calif. – There is a two-day pick six carryover of $110,484 for Saturday’s 10-race program.

The carryover was clinched after Kulik Lodge ($5) won Friday’s seventh race, with one race remaining on the program.

Saturday’s pick six covers the fifth through 10th races. The pool of new money could exceed $500,000.

There is one early scratch for Saturday’s pick six races. Global Hottie has been withdrawn from the ninth race, the California Distaff Handicap for fillies and mares on the hillside turf course. Her absence allows Smoove It to draw into the field from the also-eligible list.

The pick six races are a maiden race over six furlongs, an optional claimer over 1 1/8 miles on turf, a maiden claimer over six furlongs, an optional claimer over 1 1/16 miles, the California Distaff Handicap, and a maiden claimer over 5 1/2 furlongs.

Yes, you are correct. There are always a lot of people out of work every year, which is quite unfortunate for all. However, that cannot be the only reason that handle is so way down. The P6 was always King in SoCal. It is so different these days.

One of my pet peeves with the pick 6: is having a quality stakes race being carded as the 3rd or 4th race because it only has 5 or 6 horses..and God-forbid if theres a 3-5 in the race that may be used as a 'single' in the pick-6! In todays world a race that featured Affirmed, Alydar and Spectacular Bid would no doubt be run as the 3rd race with a 1:45 post and the 'feature' race would be 12 state-breds running at prime time!
