ARCADIA, Calif. - Ponche De Leona completed a dream weekend for trainer Chris Paasch, winning the $86,800 Anoakia Stakes for 2-year-old fillies by three lengths.

The victory came a day after the Paasch-trained 2-year-old colt Roman Dancer won the $77,900 Sunny Slope Stakes on Saturday.

The Anoakia's five-horse field was weak and the time was slow - 1:11.07 for six furlongs. Two races later, a 2-year-old maiden fillies race was run in 1:10.58.

Ponche De Leona's win came in her first start under Paasch, after three claiming-race victories at Calder. Purchased privately in Florida, Ponche De Leona made her first start in California in the Anoakia, with Garrett Gomez aboard. She paid $11 to win.

Asian Adventure finished second, two lengths in front of Cinnful Bride. Lil' Awesome Annie ran fourth. The 7-5 Green Eyed Lady was last.
