Santa Anita: NHC winner Arias guest at Saturday seminar

ARCADIA, Calif. - Jose Arias, who won the Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship at Treasure Island in Las Vegas last Sunday, will appear at Tom Quigley’s paddock seminar at Santa Anita on Saturday morning.

Arias, 36, who lives in nearby Bell Gardens, Calif., will be interviewed by Quigley from 11:20 a.m. to noon, discussing his tournament win and Saturday’s nine-race program at Santa Anita. The event will be held in the paddock gardens, between the walking ring and the track’s gift store.

The discussion will be presented on Santa Anita’s simulcast signal. Later in the day, Arias is scheduled to make an appearance on the HRTV network.

Arias, an environmental safety engineer in his full-time job, won the National Handicapping Championship by $1.20 after placing 45 $2 win and place bets during the three-day contest. During the tournament, Arias was successful with bets from Santa Anita, his home track for 20 years.
