Santa Anita: Lightmyfirebaby put up

Lightmyfirebaby was promoted from second to first in the $112,700 Las Cienegas Handicap at Santa Anita after the first-place finisher, Bahama Mama, was disqualified for causing interference in the Grade 3 race.

Bahama Mama, who led from the start on the hillside turf course, drifted to her outside when the field crossed over the dirt onto the main turf course, affecting Lightmyfirebaby and Super Freaky, who were racing to her outside.

Bahama Mama, a 20-1 shot, finished a length in front of Lightmyfirebaby, running about 6 1/2 furlongs on grass in 1:13.25. After an eight-minute inquiry, the stewards disqualified Bahama Mama and placed her fourth. Wake Up Maggie, the original third-place finisher and 7-5 favorite, was promoted to second after catching Super Freaky in the final strides.

Lightmyfirebaby ($21.60), owned by Richard O'Neill and trained by Barry Abrams, was making her sixth start of 2008. The winner of the Irish O'Brien Handicap for California-bred fillies and mares on March 17, Lightmyfirebaby was making her second start of the month, having finished second in the Valentine Dancer Handicap over a mile on turf on April 6.

A 5-year-old mare by Unusual Heat, Lightmyfirebaby has won 5 of 17 starts and $293,586.
