A Jealous Woman, with Brice Blanc riding, notches a stakes victory in the Swingtime.

ARCADIA, Calif. - A Jealous Woman led throughout Saturday's restricted $87,100 Swingtime Stakes at Santa Anita to win the first stakes of her career.

Ridden by Brice Blanc for trainer Francis Meza, A Jealous Woman ($14.20) ran a mile on turf in 1:33.84, holding off a late threat from Lady Ten to win by a length. Byrony, the 3-2 favorite, finished third in the field of nine fillies and mares.

A Jealous Woman, a 6-year-old mare by Muqtarib, led by 3 1/2 lengths on the turn, a lead that diminished in the final furlong. The victory was worth $57,300 and improved A Jealous Woman's career earnings to $354,896.

Her win was the first career stakes victory for Meza.

Racing for Three Cent Stable, A Jealous Woman was second in the American Beauty Stakes here in April, but was unplaced in three subsequent stakes races. She has won 7 of 17 starts.
