Santa Anita: Friday card features $226,900 carryover in pick five, $44,521 pick-six carryover
Email
ARCADIA, Calif. – For the first time at the current winter-spring meeting, there is a pick-five carryover of $226,900 for Friday’s eight-race program at Santa Anita. There also is a carryover for Friday in the pick six of $44,521.
Upset wins by Just Win Baby ($59.60) and Kessabtsi ($54.60) and no winning favorites led to the carryover in the 50-cent bet.
The pick five covers the first five races each day. The pool should exceed $1 million in new money.
Friday, the bet begins with a $25,000 claimer over 61/2 furlongs. Valentine Boy is the 8-5 favorite on the morning line in a field of seven.
The second race is a maiden special weight race over 6 1/2 furlongs led by Wild Media and Candy’s Jewel.
In the third, a maiden claimer over a mile on turf, Joelito is scratched from the full field.
The fourth race is a $10,000 claimer over seven furlongs. Roll Your Eyes, who drew the outside in the field of nine, is the 7-2 favorite on the morning line.
The fifth race is a 10-runner maiden race on the hillside turf course. Speedy Vixen is withdrawn in a race led by Puff Pastry.

Best Bets
AQUINNAH returns to a route and she couldn't have found a much better spot as a horse who wants to be involved early, as the expected pace scenario figures to favor those runners with a little early zip and she appears to be quickest of them all out of the gate; should control the tempo, and that should lead to her running to her best figures. CHARMINGMEGAN has tactical speed and likes to win, a combination that makes her easy to like; should get first run at the top pick.
