Hollywood Park opens its spring-summer meeting on April 25. The Santa Anita winter-spring meeting closes on Sunday. There are four turf stakes on Saturday and Sunday at Santa Anita, including the $150,000 San Juan Capistrano Handicap over about 1 3/4 miles. Saturday’s main race is the $150,000 Santa Barbara Handicap over 1 1/4 miles for fillies and mares. Lady of Shamrock, who won two Grade 1 races last summer – the American Oaks and Del Mar Oaks – will be a short-priced favorite in her second start of 2013. Trained by John Sadler, Lady of Shamrock was second to Tiz Flirtatious in the Grade 2 Santa Ana Stakes last month. Sadler won his fourth stakes of the meeting with Jubliant Girl in the minor Runway Stakes for 3-year-old fillies on the hillside turf course on Saturday. Owned by CRK Stables, Jubliant Girl will make her next start in the $100,000 Senorita Stakes for 3-year-old fillies over a mile on turf at Hollywood Park. Jubliant Girl has won 3 of 4 starts. “This is a nice filly,” Sadler said. “She’s not a big filly. She’s by Henrythenavigator and we think she’ll get a mile.” Game On Dude sharpens for Charles Town Classic Game On Dude, the winner of the San Antonio Stakes and Santa Anita Handicap earlier this year, worked a half-mile in 47 seconds on Sunday, his final major exercise before the $1.5 million Charles Town Classic in West Virginia on Saturday. Game On Dude had a workout time on Sunday that equaled the fastest of 52 recorded works at the distance. Demonic preps for Derby Trial Demonic, unraced since winning a maiden race in his debut over seven furlongs on Jan. 13, will make his stakes debut in the $175,000 Derby Trial Stakes over a mile at Churchill Downs on April 27, Sadler said. Owned by CRK Stables, Demonic worked six furlongs in 1:13.60 at Hollywood Park on Saturday. Demonic was sidelined during late winter with a bruised foot.
