The Bob Baffert-trained Ellafitz will attempt to win her third consecutive stakes in the $200,000 Santa Maria Stakes over 1 1/16 miles on Feb. 18 at Santa Anita. Last Sunday, Ellafitz won the minor Paseana Handicap over a mile by 4 1/4 lengths. She won the Grade 2 Bayakoa Handicap at Hollywood Park in December. “She’s changed so much,” Baffert said. “She’s matured and filled out.” Later this year, Ellafitz could race against Zazu, a Grade 1 stakes winner in 2011 who arrived at trainer John Sadler’s stable on Monday after an autumn break. Owned by Jerry and Ann Moss, Zazu won the Grade 1 Lady’s Secret Stakes at Santa Anita last October, but missed the Breeders’ Cup Ladies’ Classic because of inflammation in a shoulder. Sadler said Zazu is likely to return to racing at Hollywood Park this spring. Trainer Gutierrez fined $500 Trainer Jorge Gutierrez has been fined $500 after one of his starters at Hollywood Park in November tested in excess of the permitted level of Flunixin, an analgesic. The overage was found in a post-race test taken form Warren’s Goldie, who finished third in the second race on Nov. 17 for 2-year-old maiden claimers. Warren’s Goldie returned to win at Hollywood Park on Dec. 15.
