Dynamic Host (right), winner of Saturday's Tokyo City Cup, may attempt the 1 3/4-mile San Juan Capistrano on closing day at Santa Anita.

Dynamic Host won his first stakes in Saturday’s $150,000 Tokyo City Cup over 1 1/2 miles on the main track and may start in another marathon next month – the $150,000 San Juan Capistrano Handicap over about 1 3/4 miles on turf.

“We’ve got options for him,” trainer Art Sherman said. “We could look at the San Juan Capistrano.”

The San Juan Capistrano is the closing day feature, on April 22.

Owned by a partnership, Dynamic Host, a 6-year-old gelding, was claimed for $40,000 last summer at Del Mar. He has since won $116,840, $90,000 of which was collected in the Tokyo City Cup. Sherman began scouting Dynamic Host as a potential claim a year ago, when the gelding was racing in Northern California.

“I liked the way he was running up north,” Sherman said. “I like the sire Dynaformer. I thought, ‘I’ll take a shot.’ ”

In the Tokyo City, Dynamic Host ($13) closed from last in a field of eight to win by a neck over Dhaamer, the 5-2 second choice. The first two finishers fought through the final furlong before Dynamic Host prevailed. The Tokyo City was Dynamic Host’s first start in a stakes since a fifth-place finish in the Grade 2 Clement Hirsch Turf Championship here last October.
