Santa Anita: Distinctiv Passion looks good in San Vicente prep
Email
ARCADIA, Calif. - Distinctiv Passion joined the list of candidates for the $150,000 San Vicente Stakes for 3-year-old sprinters in February after a convincing win in an allowance race on Friday.
Ridden by Edwin Maldonado, Distinctiv Passion led throughout, pulling clear in the final furlong to win by 2 1/2 lengths over 24-1 Disarm.
Super Ninety Nine, the 4-5 favorite, finished fourth, never threatening Distinctiv Passion, who ran six furlongs in 1:08.61.
Trained by Jeff Bonde for a partnership, Distinctiv Passion has won his last two starts after finishing third and fourth in maiden races at Del Mar in August. He won his comeback race in a maiden race at Hollywood Park on Nov. 25.
Maldonado, the leading rider at the Hollywood Park fall meeting, has noticed a change in Distinctiv Passion.
“He’s matured a lot in his last two races,” Maldonado said. “In the past, he wanted to go full speed. He’s more relaxed on the front end.”
The San Vicente is run over seven furlongs on Feb. 17.
The next major race for 3-year-old males is Saturday’s $100,000 Sham Stakes over a mile. Goldencents, the winner of the Delta Jackpot Stakes in Louisiana in November, is the leading contender.
Yea, whats with Tweebster ? Just retire him, dont run him into the dust because he is bowed Baffert ! Come On Dude, do right by the horse, not your freaking wallet !

This Distintiv Passion is a monster ! He just galloped around the track, if Bonde can slow him down a bit, its the 2nd coming of Bodemeister !

GHOSTLY APPEAL has been on the sidelines for more than nine months. She'll be hard to deny on the drop from $12,500 N2L to $5,000 N2L if she's ready to roll in her return. WINTER ROCKET made up ground late, but still finished in the rear-half of the pack when she was overmatched against Louisiana-bred $12,500 N2L's in her return from a freshening. She'll be a factor in the exotics on the class drop to open $5,000 N2L. SHE'S BONAFIDE didn't show as much early speed as usual, then rallied to challenge for the lead.
