ARCADIA, Calif. - Demonic, the winner of a maiden race over seven furlongs on Jan. 13, is being pointed for the $1 million Arkansas Derby at Oaklawn Park or the $750,000 Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland, trainer John Sadler said.

Both races are run on April 13.

Friday, Demonic worked five furlongs in 1:01.20 at Betfair Hollywood Park. Sidelined with a bruised foot in February, Demonic missed a scheduled start in the San Felipe Stakes. Friday’s workout was Demonic’s second since returning to full training.

Sadler said that Demonic was sidelined briefly by a quarter crack earlier this month. Owned by Lee and Susan Searing, Demonic is by Bernardini and was purchased for $400,000 at the 2011 Keeneland September yearling sale.

demonic started his career about the same time as his father in january. bernardini did not start winning stakes races until april. just aim for the preakness with this one, if he has the talent. no lasix at 2 is a big positive.

They're only doing what's best for the horse. This way he can have an early retirement when he breaks down. Sadler and the owners are animal abusers.

When was the last time you heard of a Sadler horse breaking down in a race? It's been a long time. Terrible thing to write.
