Santa Anita carryover $370K for Saturday


ARCADIA, Calif. - Saturday's 10-race program at Santa Anita features a two-day pick six carryover of $370,573.

The bet proved too difficult on Friday when a string of short-priced favorites were beaten, including 4-5 Modern Look in the Moscow Burning Stakes. She could only finish second to Dawn After Dawn ($12.40).

Saturday's pick six covers the fifth through 10th races on a program that begins at 12:30 p.m. the first race of the pick six begins at approximately 2:38 p.m.

As of Friday, there was one early scratch for Saturday's pick six races - Shadow of Illinois in the fifth race. His absence leaves 11 runners in the claiming race on the hillside turf course. Billy Allen, who drew the outside, will be favored.

The sixth race is a six-furlong claimer featuring eight 4-year-olds. Deep Pockets and High Intellect will attract most of the support.

The seventh race is a maiden race on the hillside turf course. Silent Stalk, Magic Roberta, and Market at Midday are contenders in an open field.

The $300,000 Santa Margarita Invitational, the eighth race, is led by Life Is Sweet, who is after her third consecutive stakes win. She will be the short-priced favorite in the pick six races.

The last two races feature large field.

The ninth race, an allowance race over a mile on turf, has 14 entrants, but will be limited to 12 starters.

The last race is a maiden claimer at 5 1/2 furlongs. Ivy by the Shore is the 5-2 morning line favorite in a field of 11.
